Dad's Poem

Remembering Fifty Years

Today we celebrate my dad's birthday of 50 years,
He loved us, molded us, and chased away our fears.
Then he decided to parent many more,
He adopted 3 and many still come to his door!
Hannah, Cameron, and Adrianna keep dad on his toes,
Yet he finds time for the Riverplot and planting veggies in rows.
Raising 7+ children takes lots of time and on the nerves can wear,
No Wonder dad's raven locks are turning to gray hair!

My dad took us fishing at the break of day,
We tried all day but the fish stayed away?!
Every year we'd take long trips in the care,
To visit our relatives whose distance was far!
We'd pack up and travel all day and all night,
By the time we got there, our hair looked a fright!
But we'd enjoy our vacation and family time,
Trying not to spend a pretty penny or dime.

Dad worked many jobs and long hours to keep us fed.
He worked days, schooled nights, and hardly went to bed.
He and Mom provided us with a home full of fun,
Whether roughhousing, singing songs, or playing in the sun.
We moved many places throughout the years,
Sometimes he heard cries, and sometimes he heard cheers!
We moved so he could provide a better life for us,
We shouldn't have complained, and we weren't allowed to cuss!

Because my dad, he's the best!!!
He's always been there for us (except for naptime when he had to rest!)
Three cheers for my dad, hip, hip, hooray!
We love you Dad- Congratulations on Your Special Day!
