The Accomplishments of a Baby
Samuel is exactly 9 months 1 week, and 2 days old today. On Saturday his scooches became actual crawls, unfortunately we couldn't celebrate his accomplishment the way we would have liked to because 1. Mama was the only one to see it and 2. We were so immersed in getting things set up for my dad's surprize party that we couldn't sit back and actually enjoy watching him. So, The official day of his crawling would be Sunday since Bob and I both watched him, and saw his little legs scooting across our hardwood floors after a toy. He has been trying for weeks now, but just never got the swing of it till now. Along with crawling, Samuel is starting to try and pull himself up on things. He gets up onto his knees, sitting tall, but just can't get the legs up to a standing position. That is okay for me though, because once he gets to standing and moving more, he will be into more mischief. He has already been reprimanded for crawling over to our VHS tapes, and pulling all of them down on the one shelf while our backs were turned. It's hard not to laugh because he is just exploring, BUT if we laugh now he'll think it is a game later, and will be confused on what is off limits and what is not.
Samuel uses both his left hand and right hand equally, however he will occasionally favor his left hand. I don't know if this is common in babies, but it would be neat if he could use both hands equally! He is still my cuddlebug and the sunshine of my life! He loves to give hugs and kisses, and sometimes we just sit on the couch together and "talk". He also likes to look at books, and read them, although I've noticed he doesn't sit quite as long as he used to now. There are just too many things to do and see I suppose. I love watching him play on the floor by himself. He studies how things work, and usually figures them out if he tries long enough. He can sit on the floor by himself and play for long periods of time, which is just like I was when I was little- I love seeing it because Samantha and Wayne have a hard time playing by themselves. They like to be in the middle of things and are close knit (usually) so they much prefer playing together. Samuel also is enjoying eating regular foods. He still gags and chokes easily, so we have to be careful that he has small pieces, but he enjoyed eating stuffing and pork chops yesterday with applesauce (he didn't really care for his scalloped potatoes though) We don't nickname Samuel's actual name, but we still have "nicknames" for him. Samuel is my Pumpkin, and my Sunshine, and Bob's Mister Mister! Samuel brightens each day, and give me much to be Thankful for.
